This Design & Build scheme consists of the construction of 40 km of high quality dual carriageway. It also includes the construction of 6.5 km of single carriageway link road to Kilkenny city and three grade separated junctions. ABM Bridge Systems are very pleased to be associated with John Sisk & Sons on this presently ongoing Phase 4 of the N9/N10 motorway project. For ABM Bridge Systems this project entails the design, supply and erection of multiple Matière Opti-Cadre Box and Portal Frame Structures as well as Matière CM4 Arches.
The Opti-Cadre Structures range from 6.5 to 8.5 metre spans, 6.0 metre rise and total lengths in excess of 90 metres. Each unit is supplied with precast wingwalls, copings and edge beams.
Structures 6 and 8 are configured as CM4 40/91 m2 Arches. These are provided with several pairs of CM4 matching profile wing walls on either end.
The new intersection Stupava was opened to public on the first of August 2011. It is the crossing of the old D2 with the new constructed D4.
The rail bridge RB01, which carries the rail line over a local farm road, is in close proximity of the main structure on this section, the bridge across the Maritca river. The bridge RB01 is replacing an old existing bridge at the end of its lifecycle which was confirmed by several borehole drills samples tested in a laboratory.
continueThe road bridge carries over a 2nd class road over a double rail electrified track. The existing bridge structure was a three span bridge of precast pre-stressed beams of the length 30m sitting on in-situ columns.
