ABM Bridge Systems were the suppliers to P.J. Hegarty & Sons, Cork, of a 14.5 m span x 6.0 m rise x 5.25 metre long, Matière Opti Cadre Portal Structure Supplied in 3 no. 1.75 m long units, for Irish Rail.
This structure was installed on Valentines Night February 14th 2009, during an overnight railway possession, between 23.00 Hours Saturday Night and 6.00 Hours Sunday Morning.
The installation was completed on time and during excellent conditions. Conditions were dry, with no wind and a full moon to light the surroundings. It was a nice romantic setting for Valentines night, but I am sure the partners of those in attendance were not fully appreciative.
With the aid of a 350 Tonne crane from William O’Brien Crane Hire, the structure was assembled in 6 Hours, starting at 11.30pm and finishing at 5.30am next morning. The ABM Bridge Systems in house installation crews were employed by PJ Hegarty’s to erect and assemble the structure, separately from our design and supply contract agreement, and this was completed with great success.

ABM also supplied the precast concrete parapets for this structure. The external in-situ heels for the structure were subsequently cast in place by the contractor.
The new intersection Stupava was opened to public on the first of August 2011. It is the crossing of the old D2 with the new constructed D4.
The rail bridge RB01, which carries the rail line over a local farm road, is in close proximity of the main structure on this section, the bridge across the Maritca river. The bridge RB01 is replacing an old existing bridge at the end of its lifecycle which was confirmed by several borehole drills samples tested in a laboratory.
continueThe road bridge carries over a 2nd class road over a double rail electrified track. The existing bridge structure was a three span bridge of precast pre-stressed beams of the length 30m sitting on in-situ columns.
