Handlova Bypasses Historic Centre

Patient commuters of Handlova City continue to look forward to the long-awaited completion of the bypass of the historic city centre. The 540m long stretch of urban read development will bring great relief to the famed traffic jams in the city & ABM have had a key role in the project by building the sole bridge on the project that spans over the River Handlovka.
The precast concrete Opti-Cadre structure is configured as a closed-cell box culvert to minimise bearing pressures on the underlying soil and ABM worked in partnership with the main consultant ISPO to finalise the proposal. The elements of the bridge were cast in ABM’s precast concrete manufacturing plant in Banska Bystrica and the structure was installed, including precast wingwalls for the main consultant Strabag, in a mere 6 days.
The total length of the structure is 55m and the frame comprises two no. supporting “L-shaped” side-walls, one “inverted “U-shaped” roof, and an in-situ reinforced concrete floor. The site works and installation were complicated by the river bypass and severe space restrictions in relation to mobile crane set-up were in place. However, an optimised design and enhanced site collaboration between ABM and Strabag, allowed these issues to be overcome to facilitate the successful installation in two phases. Subsequent site works are proceeding on schedule and the bypass should be open to the public in November 2010.

Rail Bridge Structure RB01 Svilengrad, Bulgaria

The bridge RB01 is replacing an old existing bridge at the end of its lifecycle which was confirmed by several borehole drills samples tested in a laboratory.

Refurbishment of a road bridge Vyskov
The road bridge carries over a 2nd class road over a double rail electrified track. The existing bridge structure was a three span bridge of precast pre-stressed beams of the length 30m sitting on in-situ columns.
