Client: Westmeath County Council
Project: M6/M7 Kilcock to Kinnegad
Construction work on the 40 km Kilcock to Kinnegad stretch of motorway began in 2003. This €420 million public private partnership (PPP) project is being managed by the National Roads Authority as part of the €6 billion National Development Plan.
ABM Bridge Systems won the contract for the construction of six bridges on this route.
We designed and produced all six bridges in a period of just 12 weeks, with each bridge installation taking three days.
Key aspects of this project included the construction of two separate arch structures – one supporting the Galway-bound section of the motorway and the other the Sligo-bound section of the motorway – comprising precast spandrel walls and wing walls with feature finish.
The erection of the precast frame took two days. This short timeframe, combined with the fact that Opti Cadre underpass structures were used, enabled the main contractor to keep the road operational during the entire construction process.
David M.Patton, Chairman of the Patton Group recently issued a terrific commendation to ABM Bridge Systems for their timely and successful completion of a Railway structure.
ABM Bridge Systems have received a further commendation for their valiant efforts in delivering and installing the CM4 arch units for the Park Bridge Project, in Derry, on Friday 10th October 2008.
