Community Nursing Units Reach Completion

ABM has recently completed 2 no. Community Nursing Units.

The 100-bed Clonskeagh development consisted of the demolition of two existing single-storey buildings and the construction of a community nursing unit at the south western corner of the site. The project comprised a part two-storey, part three-storey circulation tower, two L-shaped wings, one two-storey and one 3-storeys high to the south and north, containing an entrance hall, dining, day and treatment rooms, 100 no. bedspaces in single and shared rooms with ensuite bathrooms, support facilities, and associated site works including adjustments to an existing private road entered from Clonskeagh Road to the north, hard standing and 29 no. car parking spaces, new garden courtyards, service yard, service compound and ESB sub-station, measuring a total of 4,586sqm in area.  ABM also carried out the fit-out works including the installation of high-specification medical service panels over beds for medical gas and nurse’s call buttons, the installation of specialist equipment in treatment rooms, reception, bathrooms and a hair salon.

The 50-bed Cork development consisted of the demolition of the rising wall of two incomplete buildings and the construction of a community nursing unit, comprising a one-storey wing, T-Shaped on plan, containing an entrance hall, lifts, stairs and a day/dining room.  It also includes a prayer room, treatment suite, catering kitchen, plant rooms and ancillary facilities, a two-storey wing, L-shaped on plan, containing 50 no. bed spaces in single and shared rooms with ensuite bathrooms and support facilities, site works, including adjustments to existing roads, 40 no. car parking spaces and 3 no. courtyard gardens and a services compound, measuring a total of 1700sqm in area.  The new structure is situated at the western end of the site of St. Mary’s Orthopaedic Hospital, Knocknaheeny, Cork for the Health Service Executive.  ABM also carried out the fit-out works including the installation of medical service panels over beds for medical gas and nurse’s call buttons, the installation of high-specification specialist equipment in treatment rooms, reception, bathrooms and a hair salon.

  • ABM Commences Social Housing Project in Gloucester Street

    ABM have commenced a social housing project at Gloucester Street in Dublin. The project, for National Association of Building Co-Operatives (NABCO) Society Ltd, consists of the construction of 19 cooperative social housing units in three, four and five storey buildings together with a self contained 30m2 committee room all of which are being erected on an existing sub structure forming part of a basement car-park over the whole area of the site.
