Pupils and staff of Athy School have settled happily into their new school which was fast-tracked by ABM within a tight 20-week programme.
Teachers, parents and pupils alike are delighted with their new school which was innovatively constructed from a light-weight steel frame system.
To achieve the 20-week fast-track programme as stipulated by the DoES, the building structure was manufactured off-site using an insulated light gauge steel frame system which eliminated more traditional and laborious methods of construction such as in-situ concrete work. This allowed the on-site works to the structure, including windows and roof, to be completed in a mere 6 weeks.
Wherever possible, off-site fabrication of the internal components were used such as pre-hung door sets, internal wall partitions, kitchens, cubicles and heating pipe-work runs.
ABM have developed an unrivalled reputation for the maintenance of high quality standards whilst constructing within a rapid-build programme.
Located on the existing site of a derelict 19th Century British Army Barracks, ABM is currently undertaking enabling works in preparation for future refurbishment works which are planned for the historic barracks building.
ABM has recently completed 2 no. Community Nursing Units. The 100-bed Clonskeagh development consisted of the demolition of two existing single-storey buildings and the construction of a community nursing unit at the south western corner of the site.
