The development of the 50-Bed Community Nursing Unit in Cork for the HSE is now nearing completion.
This exciting project, one of 5 CNUs being constructed by ABM for the HSE, consisted of the demolition of the rising wall of two incomplete buildings and the construction of a community nursing unit.
The project comprised a one-storey wing, T-Shaped on plan, containing an entrance hall, lifts and stairs, day/dining room. Prayer room, treatment suite, catering kitchen, plant rooms and ancillary facilities and a two-storey wing, L-shaped on plan. The Unit contains50 bed spaces in single and shared rooms with en suite bathrooms and support facilities. ABM undertook all site works, including adjustments to existing roads, 40 car parking spaces, 3 courtyard gardens and a services compound, at the western end of the site of St. Mary’s Orthopaedic Hospital.
Located on the existing site of a derelict 19th Century British Army Barracks, ABM is currently undertaking enabling works in preparation for future refurbishment works which are planned for the historic barracks building.
ABM has recently completed 2 no. Community Nursing Units. The 100-bed Clonskeagh development consisted of the demolition of two existing single-storey buildings and the construction of a community nursing unit at the south western corner of the site.
