The first 27m beam leaving ABM’s works.
Deliveries of 27 metre long, 32 tonne pre–stressed bridge beams to HMNB at Faslane from ABM Precast Solution’s North Nottinghamshire plant began during March 2008.
In total, 66 of PY6 beams will be delivered by road to Greenock from where main contractor, Briggs Marine, will ship them by barge across the Clyde Estuary before craning them in to place in a new six span viaduct.
Whilst far from being the heaviest units produced by ABM at the Tuxford site, they are the longest beams yet shipped.
As part of ABM’s re–branding, the UK based precast concrete operation formerly know as ABM Precon Ltd., is being re-launched as ABM Precast Solutions Ltd.
continueWork is currently underway to reinstate the link between the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways and bring steam trains back to tracks which closed in the 1930s.
