ABM Precast Solutions are in the final stages of preparing over 100 prestressed beams for Birse Civils to place overnight on the M4 near Windsor. The beams are part of a junction improvement scheme which will provide a hard-shoulder and improved parapets and acoustic screening.
With 140,000 vehicles using the M4 every day, the works have been designed to keep traffic moving at all times. As part of this, to speed placement and reduce on site works, modular beam units have been made which combine the prestressed edge beam, first internal beam and parapet stringcourse, each of these units weigh over 40 tonnes.
