Project: Regent Centre Multi-Storey Car Park extension, Gosforth, Newcastle
This project involved adding four additional levels to an existing car park. Not only was all the construction within the footprint of the existing car park but the lower storeys remained in use during construction.
This steel framed multi-storey car park extension utilises precast, fully finished deck units designed by Hill Cannon & Partners, known as Tricon Floor Units. These ribbed slab units have no in-situ topping, but have a small concrete stitch connection to shear studs along the supporting steel beams to give continuity to the slabs.
This is a very quick construction operation, with no delays for second stage concreting, and enables the car park to be used for traffic at an early stage. The use of precast units from ABM Precast Solutions minimised the amount of on site work needed on this highly restricted site.
With increasing demands on rolling stock utilisation, the need for inspection and maintenance of locomotives wagons and On-Track plant in there working region has led to several new facilities being installed.
ABM Precast Solutions are in the final stages of preparing over 100 prestressed beams for Birse Civils to place overnight on the M4 near Windsor.
